BackerKit surveys are coming soon!

Hello all you lovely backers!

We hope you all had the most delightful of holidays (or, for you non-Americans, just a normal November week). In lieu of turkey (or faux turkey) feasts, we’ve been hard at work getting the fulfillment worked out with BackerKit. After a slew of back-and-forths with their tech department, we are close to having the system up and kicking!

Soon you’ll each receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. We know you all are slammed, but if you could respond to your survey as quickly as you can, we’d be MASSIVELY grateful. We can’t lock the system until EVERYONE has completed their survey, and we need to get those Holiday Extravaganza backers their gift-wrap-ready Monster issues in time to slide under the tree.

Just so you know, you won’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, simply click the survey link to respond. Through this survey you will be able to answer questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like.

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts. We’ll give you a heads up when this final deadline is drawing close.

If you need to review your information or pledge status at any time after answering the survey, you can return to it by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at friction.backerkit.com.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log into your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the same email address that you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at friction.backerkit.com/faq.

We’re so excited to get these gorgeous books into your physical (and/or digital) hands. Thank you again for being so darn amazing. We raised many cups of coffee and tea to you on Thank-You Day (as Helen, the Brit, calls Thanksgiving).

Merry final day of the campaign to every last one of you! A merry day indeed.

It’s happened, it’s REALLY happened! Over the last 30 days, we have raised exactly $27,754, which means that the ENTIRE next year of F(r)iction is completely funded!

Thank you so much. We could not have done this without you all, from the fervent readers who have been with us from the very first issue to the super keen new readers, including quite a few of you who have bought the complete collection of our back stock!

Your enthusiasm and belief in our amazing stories and art, and the incredible authors, artists, editors, and other staffers who make it a reality makes us gooey in a really proud and really grateful kind of way. And so the Editors’ collective heart grew three sizes that day.

NEXT STEPS

Over the next few weeks, a few things need to happen before we can kick off fulfillment. Here's a quick rundown:

Firstly, Kickstarter needs to transfer over the funds raised through this campaign so that we have the money to ship the physical rewards (this can take up to two weeks).

Second, we need to collate all the information about your orders and—for any rewards with physical items—where to ship them. We’ll send out a BackerKit survey to collect this information.

We’ll give you a heads-up before we send the survey so that you can watch out for it in your inbox. Don’t fret, you won’t need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey; the invitation email will contain a link to your personal survey. So easy! It is important to submit your responses as quickly as you can since we need this information to process your rewards.

But for now, as we bustle about prepping things on our end, you can get geared up for some curiously strange, wildly captivating stories. Do take time to relax, though. You’ve just helped sustain another YEAR of our journal, including helping to support our nonprofit’s educational programs. Bravissimo!

Again, thanks for all your support. Seriously, we couldn’t have done it without you. We can’t wait to send you these magical books—we know you’re going to love reading, sharing, and simply STARING at them mesmerized as much as we utterly love creating them.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! We just smashed through our $24k goal meaning that we are completely and utterly FULLY FUNDED for the entire next year of F(r)iction!

As you can imagine, we are utterly over the moon about this! So much so that we are now able to unlock our final stretch goal and send ALL subscribers a FREE print copy of F(r)iction #15: Identity!

• Step 1: Make sure you are logged into your Kickstarter account and then go to our campaign (here!)
• Step 2: Click on the big green button with “MANAGE MY PLEDGE” in the top right corner
• Step 3: This will take you to a new screen. Then click the “CHANGE MY PLEDGE” button near the bottom
• Step 4: Selection a new Pledge Level and then click “PLEDGE”
• Step 5: This will take you to a new page, with all the add-ons listed. If you want to add any add-ons, you can do it there!
• Step 6: Confirm that pledge and you’re DONE

More than HALFWAY to Arcana! New Stretch Goal Unlocks! And the Magicians!

Good morning lovely backers!

With just THREE days left, we burst past the HALFWAY MARK for Arcana AND unlocked a slew of stretch goals! A huge thank you to the rush of amazing new backers this weekend (welcome everyone!). This means we’re only 2,451 buckeroos away from funding the WHOLE YEAR of epic storytelling and art!

To celebrate this amazing milestone, have a looksy at the thumbs for our Arcana cover. These beauties come from Galen Dara, an amazing artist with one hell of a unique style:

United under the aesthetic of “ancient magic...in space,” we wanted to uncover how the secrets of arcana transcend time, from history’s first whispers of magic to unimagined future myths.

Dani has zero idea how she’ll be able to choose between these two directions (how DOES one decide between tarot-reading robots and Macbeth’s witches in Space?)—either way, all you lovely folks at the subscriber level are going to have a GORGEOUS Arcana issue in your hands (to match your equally stunning Memory and Legacy Issues)!    

STRETCH GOALS: THE MAGICIANS

Halfway, of course, also means we unlocked some new stretch goals!

Celebrity Mayhem: First off, Lev Grossman—you know, bestselling author of The Magicians Trilogy, a series so rad that, when it was adapted for the silver screen, the amazing TV adaptation was Sci-Fi channel’s most popular show for years. THAT Lev Grossman was our Pioneer for F(r)iction#14: Survival, and in that wee book, he shared with us a passion project of his: a novel-in-progress called The Silver Arrow.

Lev has generously donated signed issues of Survival to three lucky subscribers, so check that tier out while it lasts!

Fun Fact: The Silver Arrow has since been purchased by Bloomsbury and is now rocketing its way up the list of best children’s books. All from its humble start in our pages!

MYSTERY STRETCH GOALS REVEALED

With the unlocking of Lev’s tier, we are also revealing the next stretch goal! In fact, we’re gonna reveal TWO of them (because we’re just that excited).

At $21k—which we just hit yesterday!—we’re be bringing you something you’ve been asking for since the very first day of this campaign: digital back issue add-ons. Now you can get all of our published issues, even the ones sold out in print!

THEN, at 400 backers—just 12 backers away—we’ll be REOPENING the Tarot Tomfoolery tier, because apparently—from all the messages we’ve been receiving—you all NEED more gold tarot cards (and the folks over at Normal Tarot have kindly acquiesced).
